Zero tolerance on crime, corruption: New Etah SSP outlines policing priorities in 1st media meet

ETAH: Newly appointed senior superintendent of police Elamaran G on Wednesday held an introductory interaction with mediapersons at the police lines, outlining an aggressive, multi-pronged strategy to strengthen law enforcement, improve public trust and ensure swift delivery of justice in the district. Addressing journalists at the conference hall, the SSP said the district police would focus on time-bound and effective action on issues prioritised by the government, while ensuring 100% crime detection. He emphasised that identified offenders would be fast-tracked under “Operation Conviction” to secure early punishment. Highlighting a tough stance on habitual offenders, Elamaran said the top 10 criminals and history-sheeters would be kept under constant surveillance, with strict legal action against repeat offenders.

“There will be no leniency towards organised crime or habitual offenders,” he said. The SSP also stressed the need for better traffic management, noting that accident monitoring and coordination with inter-departmental agencies would be strengthened to reduce road mishaps. Action against mafias will continue, with a focus on strong prosecution to ensure convictions. On maintaining law and order during festivals, he said police would work closely with the public to ensure peaceful celebrations.

Special attention will also be given to crimes against women, with directives for prompt and effective action in such cases. Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, the SSP said strict accountability would be enforced within the police force. He added that public grievances would be addressed in a time-bound and quality-driven manner to ensure justice for every complainant. “The district police will also intensify crackdowns on the illegal liquor trade and unauthorised arms manufacturing units. Emphasis will be laid on maintaining discipline and efficiency within the force to improve overall policing standards,” the SSP said.
