Dumka: A 14-year-old student died allegedly by suicide at his home in Badoligadh under Mihijam police station limits, late on Saturday night.A student of Class 9 in a Chittaranjan school, the boy had his annual mathematics exam the same afternoon.He was alone at home in the evening when he allegedly took the step.When his mother and grandmother returned home from the market, they found him hanging in his room, police said.“We are investigating from all angles to determine the cause of suicide. No note was found, but we are questioning family and friends,” the officer-in-charge (OC) of Mihijam police station, Vivekananda Dubey, told TOI. “We have come to know that his mathematics paper did not go well and he was distressed,” he added.Ward councillor Jhimli Majumdar and Congress leader Danish Rahman also visited the family to offer condolences.“This tragedy highlights the need for better mental health support in schools,” Majumdar urged.
