NFL Insider Mike Garafolo reported via X that the Miami Dolphins and the San Francisco 49ers have traded picks: No. 30 and No. 90 go to San Francisco, and No. 27 and No. 138 go to Miami.

The Dolphins also traded picks with the Dallas Cowboys: Miami received No. 12, No. 177, and No. 180. Dallas received No. 11.Out of those two trade scenarios, the Dolphins drafted two college football players on Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft: San Diego State Aztecs cornerback Chris Johnson as their first-round, 27th overall pick [via San Francisco] and Alabama Crimson Tide offensive tackle as their first-round, 12th overall pick [via Dallas].

Dolphins select San Diego State Aztecs cornerback Chris Johnson at 27th overall

Chris Johnson is a 6-foot, 193-pound cornerback from San Diego State. He played four seasons for the Aztecs from 2022 to 2025. He earned a 91.6 overall PFF grade in the 2025 season, ranking 2nd among 897 qualified cornerbacks. His PFF coverage grade was 92.4, which ranked 3rd among others, and his run-defense grade was 67.1, which ranked 481st among others. He recorded 49 tackles, 9 pass breakups, four interceptions [with 2 touchdowns], and 3 tackles for loss in 2025.

His strengths: controlled and confident coverage movement, clean and natural footwork in transitions and recovery, he tracks throws to make a play on the ball, and attacks blockers with aggressive punches. His weaknesses: average recovery speed when beaten, big running backs can drag him for extra yardage, and trouble battling big-bodied receivers on jump balls.

Miami drafts Alabama Crimson Tide offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor at 12th overall

Kadyn Proctor is a 6-foot-7, 352-pound offensive tackle from Alabama. He played three seasons for the Crimson Tide from 2023 to 2025. He earned an 85.4 overall PFF grade in the 2025 season, ranking 9th among 632 qualified offensive tackles. He played 878 offensive snaps, allowed 19 total pressures in pass protections, including 2 sacks and 4 hits. His PFF pass-blocking grade was 81.8, ranking 32nd among others, and run-blocking grade was 81.6, ranking 15th among others. His strengths: overwhelming size equals overwhelming strength, battle-tested in the SEC from start to finish, envelops second-level defenders, and does not require a lot of momentum to become a runaway train. His weaknesses: shortcomings in moving laterally, inside counters can beat him easily, moderate recovery ability, and a lack of physical dominance in pass protection.
