58 detonators, live cartridges near RSS headquarters spark panic in Nagpur; high alert sounded

Nagpur is on high alert after a significant cache of explosives, including gelatin sticks and detonators, was discovered near the RSS headquarters.

NAGPUR: Nagpur was placed on high alert after a cache of explosives, including gelatin sticks, 58 detonators, several connectors and 15 live cartridges was recovered from a house, some 3km from the RSS headquarters, setting off panic and a major security response. The house owner spotted the cache of explosives and alerted the police at around 9.45am prompting immediate deployment of bomb disposal squads and forensic teams. The area was quickly cordoned off, and a detailed search operation was launched to rule out the presence of additional explosive devices.

The recovery is being treated with utmost seriousness given the proximity to the RSS headquarters, a high-security and sensitive installation. The incident comes just days after a grenade attack at a BJP office in Chandigarh heightened concerns over security at politically sensitive sites. In that case, unidentified assailants allegedly lobbed a grenade at the party office premises, causing damage but no casualties. The attack had prompted a nationwide alert and led to increased security at political establishments across several states.
