Samrat-led NDA govt in Bihar to seek trust vote on April 24

Patna: The newly sworn-in NDA govt led by CM Samrat Choudhary will seek a vote of confidence in the Bihar assembly on April 24, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar has ordered a one-day session of the House on April 24, when the new govt will move the trust vote. Samrat is expected to address the assembly while seeking the confidence of the House.The Bihar assembly will convene at 11am. In a notification issued on Saturday, assembly director Rajiv Kumar requested all members of the House, including the CM and the two deputy chief ministers, to be present and participate in the proceedings.The trust vote is expected to pass comfortably, with the NDA currently enjoying a strong majority of 201 members in the 242-member effective strength of the House. The full strength of the Bihar assembly is 243, but one seat is vacant following the resignation of BJP national president Nitin Nabin.Samrat was sworn in as Bihar’s 24th CM on April 15. His appointment marks the first time a BJP leader has assumed the top post in the state.

Samrat took over from Nitish Kumar, who resigned as CM in order to move to the Rajya Sabha.On April 10, Nitish was sworn in as a member of the Rajya Sabha, bringing to a close his two-decade tenure at the helm of Bihar politics and clearing the way for the appointment of a new CM.
