Biharsharif: Nalanda district magistrate Kundan Kumar on Saturday held a meeting with tourism department and district officials to assess the progress of renovation and beautification works at the Brahmakund temple complex ahead of Malmas Mela.The Malmas Mela is scheduled from May 17 to June 15.Highlighting the religious and cultural significance of the Malmas Mela, the DM directed officials to ensure that the Brahmakund complex is developed into a clean, safe, and visually appealing destination for devotees. He said the mela is not only a major centre of faith but also an important opportunity to boost tourism in Nalanda.During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on painting and repair of temple structures, cleaning and restoration of the sacred kund, improved lighting arrangements, drinking water facilities, sanitation, and other essential amenities for visitors.The DM instructed all departments concerned to complete the work within stipulated timelines while maintaining high quality standards. He emphasised that no inconvenience should be faced by pilgrims during the fair.The Malmas Mela holds deep religious importance in Hindu tradition, as it occurs during the sacred “Adhik Maas”, considered highly auspicious for spiritual practices, rituals, and pilgrimages.
It is organised every three years.Special arrangements including coolers, fans, water fountains, emergency entry and exit gates, crowd management systems, enhanced lighting, food services, medical teams, control rooms, and cloakroom facilities are being ensured.
