Rourkela: A 22-year-old youth was arrested in Sundargarh district on Saturday night for allegedly raping a minor and impregnating her.The survivor, now 17 years old, was 16 and studying in a govt school as a hostel boarder, came in contact with the local youth.
During vacation, the youth got into a physical relation with her on false promise of marriage.
The girl felt unwell and her mother took her for health check-up. She was found pregnant. Her mother asked her about the man behind her pregnancy, forcing her to reveal the details.The victim’s mother lodged an FIR against the youth on Saturday. He was detained and interrogated. Both accused and victim were tested medically. Police arrested the accused on Saturday night.
