Some lives leave behind more than memories — they create a lasting feeling. On what would have been Prachi Sumit Sharma’s 23rd birthday, Tvastra by Prachi Foundation released a limited-edition collector’s book that captures her life, art, and enduring spirit.
A young artist who created over 200 works by the age of 18, Prachi expressed herself across painting, sketches, calligraphy, and quilling. Her signature motif — butterflies — symbolised freedom, a theme that continues to echo through her work. The book brings together her journey, her creations, and the philosophy behind Tvastra, the name she chose for her collection, meaning “ancient creativity.”In 2024, her parents fulfilled one promise with a solo exhibition at Mumbai’s Jehangir Art Gallery.
This year, they honour another with a book designed not just to be read, but experienced. “Prachi is more than just my daughter; she is a force. During her just over 18 years, she created more than 200 pieces of art, using every medium and feeling every emotion she could find. In 2022, destiny took her physically away from us, but it couldn’t take what she left behind,” said Priya Sumit Sharma and Sumit Govind Sharma.“We are releasing a collector’s item — a book of her biography and her collection — on her birthday. Prachi deserves to be celebrated, collected, loved, and to sit in someone’s home, making them feel something they can’t quite put into words. We have 200 reasons to celebrate Prachi, and we plan to do so for as long as we live.”Beyond the book, her legacy lives on through the foundation’s work with Mumbai’s municipal schools, where art classes — supported with trained teachers and free supplies — are nurturing creativity and confidence in young students.
