Caretaker of Jagannathpur temple murdered

Ranchi: A 55-year-old caretaker of Jagannathpur temple in Dhurwa was found dead in a pool of blood on the temple campus on Friday. By evening, police sources claimed that at least three people, who are locals and known to the victim, had been arrested on charges of murder.The victim, identified as Birsa Munda, was found dead in the morning. Soon, senior police officials reached the temple with a forensic team and a dog squad.Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan said, “Many entry routes are open since construction is underway. The assailants might have entered through those routes and killed him. After murdering him, the miscreant stole money from one of the temple’s donation box and left the temple premises.” Police sources claimed that a group of men from Jagannathpur had been arrested. “One of them struck Munda with an iron rod when he saw them, leading to his death.

Their details will be revealed on Saturday,” an official said, requesting anonymity.
