Jaipur: A day after police arrested a 35-year-old alleged kingpin of a gang that rented houses in the name of PGs and hostels and then grabbed the properties, investigators said the network was linked to at least four such cases across the city.Police have identified the accused as Krishna Kumar Swami, who was arrested by Mansarovar police. DCP (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma said the case marks the first major crackdown exposing the gang’s organised modus operandi and network.“During investigation, we found the accused carried out similar offences in Shipra Path, Mahesh Nagar and other areas. So far, four cases have been registered,” Varma said.Police said the gang used rented properties for illegal activities and, when owners demanded possession, dragged them into legal disputes to delay eviction.Investigators said the accused executed rent agreements using their own associates as witnesses, then sublet the same properties to third parties using forged documents. The gang collected rent and security deposits from tenants while the original owners received nothing. If confronted, the accused allegedly issued threats and moved court to project the matter as a civil dispute, securing stays and retaining control of the properties for extended periods.
Police said the probe has also flagged the possible involvement of criminals and history-sheeters using similar methods, particularly in areas where complaints of inaction had surfaced earlier. If confronted, the accused allegedly issued threats and moved court to project the matter as a civil dispute, securing stays and retaining control of the properties for extended periods.Police said the probe has also flagged the possible involvement of criminals and history-sheeters using similar methods, particularly in areas where complaints of inaction had surfaced earlier.
