Expedite disposal of pending cases: Madhubani DM

Madhubani: District magistrate Anand Sharma chaired a review meeting at the collectorate here on Saturday to expedite the disposal of cases related to speedy trials, the Arms Act and other long-pending matters.

The meeting was attended by the district prosecution officer, assistant prosecution officers, public prosecutors, assistant public prosecutors, police representatives and other concerned officials.Emphasising top priority for speedy trial cases, the DM directed officials to significantly reduce the backlog of general cases and ensure consistent progress in their disposal. He stressed that the state’s case must be presented strongly and effectively in courts to substantially improve the conviction rate, calling for better coordination between the prosecution and investigation wings.The review focused on serious cases under the Pocso Act, SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Excise Act, NDPS Act, as well as cases involving murder, dacoity, rape and Arms Act violations. Officials were instructed to identify such cases and ensure their time-bound disposal on a priority basis.Sharma reviewed the status of cases at various stages, sought point-wise information on delays and issued directions for the prompt disposal of long-pending matters. Highlighting the importance of speedy disposal of Arms Act cases for maintaining law and order, he asked officials to maintain close coordination to avoid unnecessary delays. Concluding the meeting, the DM reiterated that delivering timely justice to victims remains the administration’s top priority.
