Rudrapur: Professor Shivendra Kumar Kashyap has been appointed vice chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, by governor and chancellor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.
) on Monday.Currently serving at the university’s College of Agriculture, Kashyap, AGE will hold office for three years. With decades of service at the institution, he has held key positions, including professor and head of the department of agricultural communication and dean of the College of Agriculture. He has also been associated with several projects, including World Bank-funded and DST-ENT initiatives.An ICAR Best Teacher Award recipient, he was selected by the ministry of education for the national LEAP programme, under which he received leadership training at the University of Hyderabad and Monash University, Australia.Since 2019, as chairman of the ranking team, he has been associated with the university’s performance in ICAR rankings. Under his tenure in this role, the institution also received the ICAR Best Institution Award and expanded its international engagement.
Speaking on his appointment, Kashyap said, “Pantnagar is not just an institution, it is an emotion. My priority will be to strengthen research, global collaborations and student-centric innovation.”Under the NAHEP project, he led a team of faculty members to facilitate international exposure for students and develop infrastructure such as smart classrooms, virtual labs and the Pantnagar Museum.Outgoing vice chancellor Manmohan Singh Chauhan assumed office on August 29, 2022, and completed his three-year term on August 28, 2025. He was given extensions till the appointment of a new vice chancellor.
