When D-Town film The Iskoon Bridgehits the screens later this year, cinephiles will have a lot to look forward to. Talking about the film, whose teaser was launched recently, writer-director Chetan Chauhan, who will make his directorial debut with this project, tells us, “Initially, we were a bit sceptical, as we always tend to wonder, log kya kahenge. But after watching the initial rushes, I am now confident about directing the first AI-generated Gujarati feature film.

It’s a paranormal thriller, a genre that hasn’t really been explored in our industry. In fact, to ensure authenticity, we have got NFSU (National Forensic Sciences University) on board. So, I am excited. The film has 82 AI-generated characters.”Chetan adds, “We used our proprietary GoSkripto-GS2 AI model (version 2.0) to generate the video, create the visual storyboard, and produce AI-driven voice narration.

AI was used to interpret the script and automatically generate a structured storyboard, convert those storyboards into video sequences, and produce synchronized AI-generated voice narration, enabling a streamlined, content creation process.

‘It’s a beautiful blend of AI and human touch’Elaborating further, Chetan says, “It will be a beautiful blend of AI and human touch. Except visuals (video generation) and images, everything else— story, dialogues, music, editing etc—has a human touch.”

He adds, “We guided prompts, refined visuals, and made final creative decisions. The collaboration combined human judgment and storytelling with AI’s speed, scale, and execution efficiency. My friend Kunnal Shah, who is the prompt team and creative head, helped me immensely.”‘Initially, I wanted to make a live-action film’Chetan tells us, “Initially, I wanted to make a live-action film and approached a few actors from our industry.

However, it was a mixed experience, and their responses left me a bit disappointed. My friend’s tech company told me they can create a teaser using their AI model, which I can pitch to investors. The result was mind-blowing and that’s how this idea came up.”He adds, “There was this hue and cry in Hollywood regarding Tilly Norwood (AI-generated actress). I have also faced criticism from a section of our industry, saying AI-generated films will have a negative impact in the long run. I don’t believe in this at all. We have to adapt to changing times and if you are doing good work, you will survive, irrespective of whether you are using AI or not. AI has its benefits, and it’s very cost-effective.
