Myah Epps is fighting for her life right now, and the news has shaken the whole basketball community. The 18-year-old high school star was badly hurt in a car crash while driving to school on Friday morning.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that this happened just months after she committed to play college basketball for Louisville. Myah Epps, who studies at Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is known as one of the best young players in the state. But right now, basketball is not the focus. Her health is.After the crash, she was first taken to a local hospital in Fort Wayne. Soon after, doctors decided to airlift her to a hospital in Indianapolis because of how serious her injuries were.
Since then, updates have been slowly coming in. Her school later shared that she is now in stable condition, which has given some relief to everyone who has been following her story.

As more details came out, it became clear how serious the situation was. According to a GoFundMe page created by Erin Hopkins, Myah Epps suffered critical injuries in the accident.“Once taken to a local hospital in Ft Wayne she was then airlifted to Indianapolis,” Erin Hopkins wrote on the GoFundMe page.
“By the Grace of God she is still with us! However she sustained critical injuries and has a long recovery ahead of her.”The same page also shared that her family is thankful for all the love and prayers coming in. And people have really stepped up. The fundraiser had a goal of $50,000, and that amount has already been reached. Around 200 people have donated, including Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs, who gave $5,000.At the same time, her school has been updating fans and supporters.
The Homestead girls basketball team posted on X, saying, “According to family, Dr.’s reported that her back surgery went well. Continued prayers for Myah as she begins her recovery.”That update brought some hope. Doctors say she is now stable, but recovery will take time. Louisville women’s basketball coach Jeff Walz has also spoken with the family. As reported by the New York Post, he is expecting a full recovery. Still, no one is rushing anything. It is too early to say when or if she will return to the court.
