Starting with just Rs 500 and a scooty, Avichal Ojha’s college project evolved into TheGreenWealth, a thriving business addressing urban plant care challenges. He identified a gap in guidance, focusing on soil health and nutrition to help over 10,000 households cultivate healthier plants, proving that simple solutions can lead to significant success.
Some of the most inspiring business stories begin in the most ordinary places. They do not start in boardrooms or with big investors, but in daily life, where someone notices a recurring problem and decides to solve it practically.Although today’s societies and high-rises have dense populations, people want healthier homes, better habits, and solutions that feel simple, useful, and trustworthy.A young entrepreneur who began with a scooty and Rs. 500 idea stood out, and his business is known as TheGreenWealth.

Who is Avichal Ojha ?
Avichal Ojha began with just Rs 500 and a scooty, using a college assignment as the starting point for what would later become TheGreenWealth.
His work now helps more than 10,000 households grow healthier plants, proving that even a tiny beginning can lead to a strong and lasting business.“I was always inclined towards plants. When you grow up in a village, you see how much care crops need. You learn that growth cannot be forced,” he tells The Better India. When he went on to study agriculture at Amity University, Noida, he saw a very different world around him.
Instead of fields, there were tall apartment buildings, and many balconies had little or no greenery.“When I shifted to Noida, I saw pollution and very little greenery,” he says. “People wanted plants inside their homes, but they did not know how to maintain them. There was interest, but not enough guidance.”During his graduation in June and July 2018, he had to complete an entrepreneurship project. Students were expected to plan and execute a small business.
Since he had always been interested in plants, he borrowed Rs 500 from his parents and bought a few saplings. That simple effort became the beginning of TheGreenWealth.
He began it with a college sales project
“I had to show some sales,” he says with a smile. “But I also wanted to see if this idea could work outside the classroom.” He started by approaching his professors. They bought the plants, kept them in their offices, and soon began asking questions.“They would call me and say, ‘Why are the leaves turning yellow?’ or ‘How much water should I give?’” he recalls.
“That is when I realised that plant survival matters more than plant sales. Selling is easy, but sustaining is the difficult part.”By the end of the project, he had earned Rs 25,000 in revenue. The money was encouraging, but what stayed with him most was the kind of questions people were asking.
He was inspired by the questions that his customers asked him
What makes his story different is the way it focuses on the root of the problem. Instead of treating plant care as only a matter of watering and sunlight, he looked deeper into soil health, nutrition, and the real reasons plants fail in urban homes. That approach helped him build trust with customers who had long struggled to keep their plants alive. Over time, TheGreenWealth grew from a small student project into a practical gardening support service for city homes.
He continued the business after Graduation on a scooter
After graduation, Avichal kept selling plants in residential societies across Noida. He had no outside funding, no office, and no team, only his own effort and determination. “I used my own savings.
I would carry the plants on my scooter, sometimes balancing two or three at a time. I would deliver them myself and explain everything carefully,” he says. Those early days were not easy. Security guards sometimes stopped him, and at times, the lifts in apartment buildings were not working. Still, he remained committed to every plant he delivered. He noticed that many plants were failing because of poor nutrition, not just lack of water.
Many customers also wanted safer, chemical-free options.
Avichal noticed tiny details about the shortcomings
Many homeowners try to care for plants but end up disappointed when leaves yellow, growth slows, or plants dry out. Avichal seems to have noticed that this was not always because people were careless. Often, they simply lacked the right guidance. By offering knowledge along with products and services, he turned that gap into an opportunity.“Most failures were due to nutritional deficiencies rather than watering,” he explained to the Better India, “People thought more water would solve the problem.”
A successful ‘green’ venture today
In March 2024, Avichal launched TheGreenWealth’s plant nutrition range after repeatedly noticing nutrient imbalances in plants. The products were designed using agricultural research and a balanced mix of micronutrients. The range includes Plant Growth Booster, Organic Potash, Seaweed Extract, Easy-to-Mix Neem Oil, Ready-to-Spray Neem Oil, PROM, Vermicompost, Neem Khali, and Mustard Cake.“I wanted to address the root cause. If the foundation is strong, the plant will thrive,” Avichal says. These products are made by certified partners and are tested in residential gardens before being introduced in the market. They are sold directly and also through online platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, and JioMart. So far, the nutrition range has reached more than 10,000 households across India.
