The 7th death anniversary of film producer and social worker Sardar Singh Suri was observed with deep reverence at Four Bungalows Gurudwara Sahib, where thousands gathered to pay tribute.

The occasion featured bhajan-kirtan, ardas, and a grand langar attended by over 9,000 devotees, reflecting his legacy of service.Suri, who introduced Prem Chopra to the film industry, also produced the Punjabi film Aeh Dharti Punjab Di, a celebrated project featuring actors like Nimmi, Jabeen Jalil, and Madan Puri, with music by Mohammed Rafi and Mahendra Kapoor. Despite its success and multiple honours, Suri did not benefit financially, pushing him back into hardship.Displaced after Partition, Suri moved from Rawalpindi to Mumbai in 1963, where he began as a taxi driver. After facing setbacks in film production, he rebuilt his life and eventually dedicated himself to social service. What started in 1967 as a small 10×10 gurudwara space has today grown into a major humanitarian hub—serving thousands daily through langar, educating hundreds of underprivileged children, and extending relief during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic and floods.

Following his passing in 2019, his son Jaspal Singh Suri and grandson Maninder Singh Suri continue his mission of service and community upliftment.Reflecting his enduring legacy, the gathering echoed a powerful sentiment: “Some people may leave, but their values and service live on forever.”
