Bokaro: Helicopter sorties over Giridih for the past two days have triggered curiosity among residents. Multiple chopper rounds were observed even on Sunday.District authorities clarified that the exercise is part of an aerial GPS-GNSS survey being conducted to map helipad locations developed in recent years.
The survey aims to create a database of sites that can be used during emergencies, official programmes and visits by dignitaries.
Giridih DC Ramniwas Yadav said that the aerial survey covers helipads constructed over the past five years.Officials said the helicopter is equipped with machines and cameras for collection of highly precise data. Data is being processed through GIS software to generate detailed digital maps, including areas that are otherwise inaccessible on the ground.
