Agra: An upper primary school in Aligarh has been shut till completion of a police probe following the death of a Class 8 student, who “died by suicide” on March 28, allegedly after harassment and intimidation by a teacher and his family, officials said on Tuesday.The Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) office issued directions to the school management. Assistant Basic Shiksha Adhikari of Atrauli block, Pramod Kumar, said the primary and upper primary sections will remain closed until the probe is complete.Kumar said the school, which was granted recognition recently, has over 200 students. An inquiry by the BSA office is also underway, and action will be taken based on findings.The girl had accused her 55-year-old teacher of molestation during a visit in Dec 2025.
A complaint was filed in Feb, and a case was registered under sections 74 (assault or criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) of the BNS.The family alleged that no timely action was taken and claimed the accused and his family continued to threaten her to withdraw the case. Following her death, a fresh FIR was registered under section 108 (abetment of suicide) and section 351 (3) of the BNS in Aligarh.
The girl’s father also alleged police negligence, stating that timely intervention could have prevented the incident.The accused teacher’s son, also named in the FIR, has been arrested and sent to jail, while the teacher is absconding.SHO Ravi Chandrawal said, “Police teams are searching for the accused and a non-bailable warrant has been issued.”
