Jaipur: Days after a photograph of Congress functionaries Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot sharing a cordial moment in New Delhi surfaced, former chief minister Gehlot accused the
BJP
of attempting to create divisions within the Congress in
Rajasthan
and across the country.Gehlot alleged that the BJP had a track record of destabilising opposition govts. “They broke the Congress in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, and here too they left no stone unturned,” he said.Taking aim at chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and state BJP president Madan Rathore, Gehlot claimed BJP leaders were deliberately invoking internal Congress rivalries to trigger fresh discord. “They want me to name Sachin Pilot so that people remember Manesar and the fight starts again.
I hold them responsible,” he said, asserting that the Congress in Rajasthan remains united.Referring to the 2020 political crisis, Gehlot said, “We spent 34 days in a hotel because of their misdeeds. Ask them how much horse-trading they have done and whether they spared Rajasthan.”He also accused Prime Minister
Narendra Modi
and Union home minister
Amit Shah
of misleading the public during elections. “Winning elections is one thing, but the kind of tamasha being created is happening everywhere,” he said.
Gehlot also alleged a broader erosion of democratic institutions. “They have no faith in democracy. If people, especially the youth, do not understand this now, the country will have to pay the price,” he warned.Reacting to reports of 7 AAP MPs, including Raghav Chadha, joining the BJP, Gehlot accused the ruling party of “murdering democracy” and misusing central agencies against political opponents. “All agencies are under their control. Earlier, the BJP harassed Chadha. They put all their names in the liquor case. This is their policy,” he said, adding that the public is closely watching developments and would respond on time.
