Bob Harris, the BBC Radio veteran, recently took to social media to share an unfortunate update about his fight with Prostate cancer, wherein expressed that the cancer has metastasized to his spine, as he expressed his health condition this “frightening” update left netizens and fans disheartened.

Here’s more about the progression of his prostate cancer and how he is fighting with this condition. What is prostate cancer?Prostate cancer is a disease that develops when cells in the prostate gland grow uncontrollably. While many prostate cancers grow very slowly and often remain confined to the gland, but in some cases they grow aggressively and spread to nearby organs or even to the bones. Because it often shows no symptoms in its early stages, it is frequently detected through PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood tests or physical examinations.The frightening updateThe 80-year-old BBC Radio legend took to Instagram to share a photo of himself smiling in the sunshine while standing with a classy walking stick. In his post he penned down “I’m sorry it’s been so long since I last posted but the past few weeks have proved to be an extremely testing time. When I posted last time from the hospital, we were trying to find the reason for the excruciating pain I was feeling in my back.

” Several scans later, we discovered that my prostate cancer has got into my upper spine…really frightening news.

So, I immediately began a course of radiotherapy—two weeks in the hospital in total—to bring things back under control. Thankfully I’m back at home now, on the pathway to recovery and feeling stronger every day.”Amidst tough timesBob Harris said his family helped him a lot during this time. They were with him when things were really tough.

He also thanked his friends at BBC Radio 2 for being so supportive. He promised his fans that he will be back on the radio as soon as he can. Bob Harris wants to be on his show Country by mid-May and “Sounds of the 70s” by the end of the month. He is very thankful to Darius Rucker and Shaun Keaveny for filling in for him. He went on to thank his well-wishers and expressed that ‘he really cannot wait to be back on the radio.
