Bokaro: The Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) management, along with local police, seized 16 motorcycles during an early morning raid on Thursday inside Kabriabad mines in Giridih district.
According to officials, coal smugglers have been frequently entering the mines at night using motorcycles to steal coal and disrupt mining operations. A similar attempt was made around 3 am on Thursday when a group of smugglers reportedly entered the mine premises with multiple bikes.Acting on a tip-off from the CCL security team, general manager Girish Kumar Rathore alerted project officer Gopal Singh Meena, who immediately informed Mufassil police station. A joint team then conducted a swift raid inside the mine.“While the smugglers managed to escape under the cover of darkness, 16 motorcycles used in the illegal activity were seized from the spot. The vehicles would be used to identify those involved,” said Meena.
