Gurgaon: The self-enumeration process of house listing under Census 2027 will begin across the state on Thursday and continue till April 30. Residents can choose to submit household details online during this period.
Officials said self-enumeration is voluntary, and census teams will fill in the forms for those unable to do so online.The questionnaire will include 33 questions related to the household. No personal or individual-level information will be collected in this phase. Apart from Haryana, the self-enumeration facility will also commence in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Chhattisgarh on Thursday.

From May 1 to 30, census enumerators will go door to door to verify the information submitted online and record details for those who did not participate in the online process.Gurgaon’s additional deputy commissioner Sonu Bhatt said citizens can visit the official portal (se.census.gov.in) to register their information. “This is not mandatory, but we urge people to use this self-enumeration process as it will be more convenient and save the time of the residents,” he said.The census will be conducted in two phases. In the first phase, house listing work will be carried out from May 1 to May 30, while in the second phase, the census will be held from Feb 9 to 28, 2027.
A citizen participating in the self-enumeration process has to enter the name of the head of the household and mobile number in the registration option. Only one household can be registered under one mobile number. After selecting the preferred language, she will have to enter the name of her city and district and give the exact location of her house.After this, a question-and-answer section will open, in which she will need to provide information regarding the main material used in the walls and roof of the house, use and condition of the house, total number of persons residing in the house, and name and gender of the head of the family and their social category.
Information about the ownership status of the house, number of available rooms, number of married couples living there, main source of drinking water and its availability, main source of electricity, toilet facility and its type, drainage of wastewater and availability of a bathroom will also need to be mentioned.Information about the availability of a kitchen and LPG or PNG connection, fuel used for cooking, the staple grain consumed by the household, and the number of radios, TVs, laptops or computers, mobile phones, vehicles and internet connection will also need to be provided.After filling in the information, she has to carefully review the data and submit it. After submission, a self-enumeration ID will appear on the screen. She needs to take a screenshot or photo of it. This ID will also be received via SMS and email. When enumerators visit the house, this ID has to be provided to them.
