Chaiti Chhath: Traffic curbs in Patna for devotees’ convenience

Patna: Patna traffic police on Tuesday issued a special traffic plan for the convenience of Chhath-vratis offering the sacred morning arghya on Wednesday. The arrangements will remain in force from 2am to 8am or until normal traffic movement resumes.

Emergency vehicles, including fire brigade, ambulance, patient-carrying vehicles and hearse vans, as well as vehicles of Chhath devotees, will remain exempted.Traffic SP Sagar Kumar Jha said no vehicles will be allowed on Ashok Rajpath from Kargil Chowk to Didarganj, and all entry points to the road will remain closed. Devotees’ vehicles will be allowed up to West Shahpur with parking arrangements on Khazanchi Road and in the Patna College and Science College campuses.

The stretch from Digha Mor to Ashiana Mor will remain closed with traffic diverted via Ramjichak More and Canal Road (Bailey Road). There will also be a complete ban on vehicle movement on JP Ganga Path from Digha Golambar to Gaighat.Heavy vehicles will be diverted via Bihta-Sarmera Road, while travellers to Sonpur, Chhapra and Hajipur have been advised to use Mahatma Gandhi Setu.
