CM Punk escapes arrest after a heated fan incident goes viral online, but the story around it feels far from settled. Just hours after his WrestleMania 42 loss, the WWE veteran found himself at the center of a tense moment inside a Las Vegas hotel.
A video that spread quickly shows Punk knocking a fan’s phone to the floor, sparking questions about what really happened in those few seconds. The clip caught attention not just for the action, but for the mood around it. Punk looked visibly frustrated. Fans crowded the lobby, cameras out, closing in on wrestlers who had just wrapped one of the biggest nights of the year. It was a chaotic scene, and in the middle of it, one interaction crossed a line.
CM Punk’s fan responds after the WWE star smacked his phone away
The fan involved is not pushing for legal action, according to TMZ. “I want an apology, shake my hand, I’m not gonna sue him or put him in jail,” he said. “I just want an apology.”That response gives Punk a significant break. The fan admitted he understood Punk may not have been in the best headspace after losing to Roman Reigns in the main event.
Video from the MGM Grand shows the moment. Bayley and AJ Lee were talking when the fan approached with his phone raised.
Bayley pushed the phone away and told him to leave. Seconds later, Punk stepped in and slapped the device out of the man’s hand. Security moved quickly to separate them, and the fan backed off, apologizing repeatedly before leaving the scene.
CM Punk and fan altercation explained
Accounts from people nearby suggest the situation was building before the video started. One bystander claimed the fan had put his arm around AJ Lee after being denied a selfie.
“I was standing right there last night when it happened, fan out his arm around Punk’s wife for a selfie after she had said no.. totally warranted and anyone else would do the same thing,” the witness wrote online.Wrestlers staying at the hotel reportedly dealt with constant crowding throughout the weekend. Fans gathered in lobbies, near elevators, even outside restricted areas, hoping for photos. Some talent handled it patiently. Others struggled to move without being surrounded. For Punk, the moment came after a draining night. He had just lost the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns. There is still no official word from WWE.
