COIMBATORE: A 23-year-old college student died while trekking on the Velliangiri Hills in Coimbatore district on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as S Mukesh Kumar, 23, of Perumal Kovil Street near Peedamneri in Dharmapuri district.
He was staying in a rented house near Telugupalayam and pursuing a Pharm D course at a private college in the area. Mukesh Kumar and eight of his friends began the trek around 10pm on Thursday. When they reached the fifth hill around 2pm, he complained of chest pain. Soon, he collapsed and died. His friends informed forest department officials. Forest department personnel helped bring the body down from the hills. The Alanthurai police registered a case and began investigations.
