Congress meet takes ugly turn in Kalyan

KALYAN: A Congress meeting under the ‘Srijan’ programme to strengthen grassroots organisation turned controversial after a clash exposed internal rifts. During a meeting in Kalyan East on Saturday, an argument escalated into a confrontation between local leaders. Sources said KDMC corporator and Congress group leader Kanchan Kulkarni allegedly slapped district president Rajabhau Patkar after accusing him of using abusive language.Kulkarni said she was provoked, while Patkar denied any assault, calling it an “internal family matter”. Senior leaders later intervened to calm tensions. The incident, in front of party workers, highlighted factionalism within the unit.
