In a shocking incident, a gang of more than 25 motorcyclists launched a violent assault on a mining officer’s vehicle in Saran, Bihar, leaving a woman constable injured. The group, wielding sticks and stones, specifically targeted the vehicle as it moved a tractor filled with illicit sand. After their brazen attack, the assailants escaped with the confiscated tractor.
Patna: A group of over 25 motorcycle-borne people attacked a mining officer’s vehicle, injuring a woman police constable, in Saran district early Sunday morning.The incident occurred near Jagdam College Dhalo in Mufassil police station area, when the mining officer, Pradeep Kumar, attempted to seize a tractor carrying illegal sand.The attackers, armed with sticks, stones, and iron rods, surrounded the vehicle and began pelting stones at it. The officer and police personnel were trapped inside, fearing for their lives, until locals intervened and chased the attackers away. The attackers fled with the seized tractor, leaving behind a trail of destruction.The CCTV footage is being scanned to identify the attackers, police said.DIG, Saran range, Nilesh Kumar, while condemning the attack, assured that the culprits would be brought to justice.
“The administration and police has taken the incident seriously. An FIR was registered against unidentified people at Mufassil police, and the police are conducting raids to search the attackers,” he added.The mining officer said the incident occurred while his team was bringing the seized tractor loaded with illegal sand to the police station. When the vehicle stopped near Jagdam College Dhala due to the closure of a railway crossing gate, over 25 motorcycle-borne attackers surrounded their vehicle, he said.
“The attackers pelted stones and bricks, and attacked the vehicle with sticks and batons. Before the officials and police personnel present in the vehicle could comprehend the sudden attack, the attackers became more aggressive. Meanwhile, a woman police constable, Swayamprabha, sustained injuries. She is undergoing treatment and is out of danger,” he added.The attackers fled from the spot after police personnel and nearby local people raised an alarm. While fleeing, they also took away the seized tractor with them.
