Shankar Panicker’s directorial debut, ‘Eric’, starring Geethika Tiwari, unveils a chilling trailer. The film promises a slasher-horror narrative blending psychological tension with supernatural elements, reminiscent of ‘Halloween’. The story follows a young woman haunted by nightmares and inexplicable events linked to a possessed car and a vengeful spirit. ‘Eric’ is set for a March 6th release.

The official trailer of ‘Eric’, directed and scripted by renowned Malayalam actor and filmmaker Shankar Panicker, has been released. The film features South Indian actress Geethika Tiwari along with Hemanth Menon, Prem Praveen, Manu Kurishingal, Kiran Pratap, Ramji, Ash, Athira Rajeev and several others in key roles.The trailer introduces a horror narrative filled in mystery and psychological tension. Its first visuals follow a small child who wakes from a dream after seeing a shadow on her door and the narration begins with the line, “There is a happy news for you.” The story then cuts to a montage of the same girl as an adult, again waking up from the same disturbing nightmare.

Trailer suggests slasher-horror tone inspired Halloween movies

The trailer hints at a tense atmosphere as her dreams begin to collide with reality.

She senses that something is wrong inside her apartment. The visuals also intercut scenes of a production company planning a mysterious programme. From the pacing and tone, the film appears to blend slasher elements with supernatural horror, reminiscent of Hollywood’s classic Halloween-style genre. Many movie buffs have commented on the “Western movie” feel that the trailer carries.

“Eric” is produced under the banner of Q Cinemas in association with Oshio Entertainments. The film is jointly produced by Shashi Nair, Benny Vazhappilly, Madhusoodanan Mavelikkara and Ramji.

Cinematography is handled by Sreejith Pancheni. This project marks the Malayalam cinema debut of Q Cinemas, and most portions were shot in the United Kingdom.Story is penned by Murali Raman with dialogues by M. K. I. Sukumaran, Prasad and music by Vivek Nair. The editing section is handled by Harish Menon.

Synopsis and release plans of ‘Eric’

The official synopsis sets up an unsettling story. It reads, “A seemingly ordinary car begins to behave as if it has a will of its own, drawing a young woman into a series of unsettling and inexplicable events.

What starts as minor disturbances soon escalates into terrifying paranormal encounters and each one marked by the haunting image of a blood-stained hand with a missing finger.”Official synopisis further says, “As fear tightens its grip around her life, she begins to suspect that the presence tormenting her is not random… but intentional. Is the spirit seeking to destroy her or is it desperately trying to communicate a hidden truth? What she ultimately discovers is far more disturbing than she imagined — a buried past steeped in betrayal, deception, and a vengeance that refuses to rest..”Through FM Entertainments, Parrot Media Events will release “Eric” in theatres on March 6.
