Forester killed, 2 injured after car crashes into tree in Mainpur

Agra: A 35-year-old forest department sub-inspector died, and two others were injured after the car he was travelling in went out of control and crashed into a tree in Mainpuri district, police said on Saturday.

The car also hit a child sitting outside a roadside house, leaving him injured.Vipin Yadav, a resident of Agra and posted as a forest ranger in Karhal since 2023, was travelling in a Honda City with two other department members on Friday evening when the accident occurred near Ikhara village, officials said. The team was returning from duty after taking action against illegal activities and tree-cutting, Barnahal station house officer Aniruddh Pratap Singh said.Preliminary reports suggest Yadav was thrown nearly 20 feet after the car’s windshield shattered when it hit a neem tree. He died on the spot. Villagers rushed to the scene and informed police. “Of the two others accompanying him, one was injured while the other is safe,” regional forest officer Shoaib Ansari said. He added that a mechanical fault in the car may have caused the accident.
