Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Showdown update: Everything that’s new
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 follows a longer-than-usual first season and introduces multiple changes aimed at reshaping gameplay progression, player interaction, and seasonal events.
With the latest update, players can use in-game Rivalry Screens to mark opponents as targets during a match. A unique currency that can be used to unlock more loot is awarded for defeating opponents, but players who interact with the system frequently may also be targeted more frequently.Players can select between Team Ice King and Team Foundation in the season’s main “Showdown” event. Weekly challenges are used to monitor progress, and participation is rewarded with cosmetics.
Owners of battle passes will receive a bonus style for the team that defeats more opponents by the end of the season. Players must complete 50 eliminations in the first week’s challenge in order to receive a cosmetic reward.Epic Games has also introduced a limited-time early purchase bonus. Players who buy the battle pass before March 27 will receive the Stealth Tech style for The Foundation (Reforged) and related cosmetics. The update also brings major changes to the loot pool, with most weapons from Season 1 removed. Only the Iron Pump and Twin Hammer shotguns return, while new additions include the Vector 7 DMR, Chaos Reloader Shotgun, and Bouncing Boomstick explosive. Some older weapons, such as the Nemesis AR and Thunder Burst SMG, are also included.New movement items have been added, replacing Shockwave Grenades. The Overdrive Grenade launches players into the air and provides a temporary speed boost, though it can cause fall damage.
The Skyline Deployer allows players to create ziplines between surfaces or attach them to floating objects.Four locations on the map have also been replaced with new named areas. Bumpy Bay is now Squibbly Shores, Clawsy Lodge has become Frigid Fortress, Classified Canyon has been reworked into New Sanctuary, and Lethal Labs is now Dark Dominion.Another gameplay addition allows a randomly selected player in each match to control the Battle Bus route, introducing a new layer of strategy at the start of each round.
