From 82kg to 60kg: How a Chennai-based influencer lost 22kg at home with 6 simple habits

Body positivity is a long journey that involves accepting the ever-evolving shape and size of one’s body. However, maintaining a healthy weight is vital for longevity and physical functioning.

While most hit the gym hoping one good trainer will transform their life, others opt to dive deep and begin the journey on their own.Noopur Kalra, a popular Chennai-based influencer mom and founder of the fashion brand Label Noopur Kalra, recently opened up on how she lost 22kg over a year with simple changes to her lifestyle. Here are some habits she adopted:

Prioritising protein

Kalra wrote in the caption of her post that protein became non-negotiable and she ensured its consumption through food and supplements.

“It helped with satiety, energy and consistency,” she wrote, recommending consulting a nutritionist for one’s own body.

Eating more, not less

The content creator shared that she learned the hard way that one needs to eat more, to lose weight. She had six small and balanced meals every day which worked better than crash dieting.

Avoid crash dieting

Crash dieting is a short-term extreme weight loss plan that restricts daily calorie intake to very low levels.

Kalra said no to crash diets “ever.” “They don’t last. They don’t heal your relationship with food,” she wrote.

Home-made meals

The influencer shared that even ‘healthy’ food made outside is cooked with ingredients out of your control. Thus, it is safer, healthier and more beneficial to have home-cooked meals.

Maintain hydration

Kalra claimed that most cravings are actually ‘dehydration’. Once you maintain healthy hydration levels, the urge for unhealthy food including fried dishes and sweets reduces significantly.

No extreme restrictions

Nothing extreme can be fulfilling physically or mentally. Thus, she did not completely cut off sweets or outside food, but rather consumed them mindfully without guilt.

Work with a nutritionist

The most important part of her weight loss journey was contacting a nutritionist whom she worked with for 1.5 years. Kalra added that due to that consistency, she learned how to manage her lifestyle on her own.She also reminded viewers that not every body and system is the same and what worked for her may not work for everyone.
