Josh Hazlewood to Sai Sudharsan, FOUR! Just past the keeper! Good length, outside off, Sai Sudharsan moves to his left and tries to scoop it, but doesn’t connect well. The ball goes past the right of the diving keeper and races away to the fence at fine leg.

Will it be a third for Bhuvneshwar Kumar or a change of ends for Josh Hazlewood? It is indeed a change of ends for Josh Hazlewood.

In a big blow to RCB, their opener Phil Salt was not available for the match due to injury and Jacob Bethell came into the side in his place.

For Gujarat Titans, Jason Holder came in and made his Gujarat Titans debut.

Important to assess the conditions early – The skipper of the Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill says it doesn’t matter much that you bat first or bowl. Gill adds that they will be looking to assess the conditions and then set a target accordingly, but keeping wickets in hand would be crucial. Shubman also mentions that one needs to consider that this is a long tournament, and whichever team stays in a good state of mind for a longer period would get a result in their favour. Gill informs that they have a couple of changes with Jason Holder making his debut for GT and Manav Suthar also coming in.

The wicket might be a little tacky – The captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajat Patidar says that they will bowl first. Informs that Bethell comes in place of Salt, as he is injured. Reckons that they have assessed the conditions pretty well this season, and it is going well so far. He says that the wicket is good to bat on and there is no grass, so it might be a bit tacky in the first innings.

IPL 2026 Live Score: Toss update

RCB captain Rajat Patidar wins toss, opts to field first vs Gujarat Titans

IPL 2026 Live Score: Fast Bowlers could decide this match

While big names in batting will attract attention, the real contest may come from the fast bowlers on both sides. Gujarat Titans have Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Ashok Sharma and Kagiso Rabada. RCB counter with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood.

If there is movement or help from the pitch, these bowlers could shape the match very quickly. Siraj was earlier part of RCB not long ago and now returns against his former side in Gujarat colours. Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar have given RCB control with both the new ball and at the death.

On the other side, Rabada’s pace and Siraj’s familiarity with Chinnaswamy conditions could be important.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2026: RCB’s batting has more than Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli remains the face of RCB’s batting, but one of the biggest positives for the defending champions this season is that the batting no longer depends only on him. Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt, Devdutt Padikkal and Tim David have all made strong contributions in different matches. That has helped RCB become a more complete batting unit.

Even Kohli has adjusted to that mindset. But this approach also comes with risks, especially on slower Chinnaswamy pitches. The surfaces used in the last two games here were slower and two-paced, making strokeplay difficult. If batters attack too early on such pitches, wickets can fall quickly and the innings can get stuck. That happened against Delhi Capitals, who won the toss and exposed that weakness.

RCB know the challenge. They have batting depth, but if the pitch remains slow again, the key will be balance — attacking enough to stay ahead, but not so much that the innings collapses before the finishers arrive.

GT vs RCB Live Score, IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans depend on top three

For Gujarat Titans, much of the batting story still starts and ends with their top three — Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler. When these three score runs, GT look like one of the stronger batting sides in the competition.

This has been an issue for Gujarat not just this year, but across seasons. Their middle-order options have not always inspired confidence, and that puts more pressure on the top order to do the heavy lifting. A dip in form for Sai Sudharsan, who won the Orange Cap last year, only increases that concern. GT like to build their innings more traditionally. They prefer to set a base, take fewer risks early, and then attack later.

It is a different method compared to RCB’s all-out attacking approach. Both teams trust their own formula because it has worked for them. But if RCB’s bowlers can remove Gill, Sudharsan and Buttler early, Gujarat could again be forced to rely on a middle order that still looks less settled.

IPL 2026 Live Score: Virat Kohli back after ankle concern

Virat Kohli remains the biggest talking point for RCB, and ahead of this game, there is relief around his fitness. RCB had a five-day break after their defeat to Delhi Capitals, and that gave Kohli time to recover from a mild ankle strain. Against Delhi, he was touch-and-go in terms of availability, but he eventually took the field.

That short break came at the right time for RCB. While the main players got time to switch off and recover, the rest of the squad went through match simulations and training sessions. It was a rare gap in a packed IPL schedule. Kohli has again been central to RCB’s campaign this year and has adjusted to the team’s attacking batting style.

RCB’s batting approach has been aggressive from the start, and even Kohli, who is usually known for building innings carefully, has fully bought into that plan.

Against Gujarat Titans, all eyes will again be on him. A strong innings in RCB’s final home league game at the Chinnaswamy could help them stay in the top two and also send a message before the tougher away leg begins.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2026: RCB’s last Chinnaswamy league game this season

Royal Challengers Bengaluru enter this match knowing it is their final league-stage game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium this IPL season. That gives this contest against Gujarat Titans extra importance.

RCB have spent most of the first half of IPL 2026 in a good position on the points table. They are not at the top, but they are far from trouble. Still, the difference between 4-3 and 5-2 can become important later in the tournament when playoff qualification gets tight.

A second home defeat could create pressure. RCB have done better at home this year compared to last season, winning three of their four matches here. Last year, they struggled to turn Chinnaswamy into an advantage, but this season they have adapted better to the surfaces.

After this game, their journey moves away from Bengaluru. They have seven away matches in the second half of the campaign, including two designated home fixtures in Raipur, which is still a relatively unfamiliar venue for them.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2026: How Bhuvneshwar Has Kept Buttler in Check

Even for a high-impact batter like Jos Buttler, the match-up against Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the IPL has been more about restraint than dominance. Across nine innings, Buttler has scored 63 runs off 57 balls at a strike rate of 110.52 – well below his typical scoring tempo in the format.

The contest has been shaped by control rather than breakthroughs. Buttler has been dismissed only twice, averaging 31.5, but his scoring has been consistently checked, reflected in 28 dot balls and a modest boundary count of nine fours and just one six. The scoring rate of 6.63 per over further underlines how Bhuvneshwar has limited acceleration phases.

Rather than outright dismissals, this has been a match-up where Bhuvneshwar has restricted Buttler’s impact, keeping him in check without necessarily removing him frequently.

IPL 2026 Live Score: Rabada, Bhuvneshwar level things with bowling in powerplay

GT can gain an upper hand during the power play if Kagiso Rabada gets the new ball in his hand. Rabada has seven wickets in the powerplay this season, the joint-highest alongside Jofra Archer. Rabada is in seventh place amongst top wicket-takers, with 10 wickets in six innings at an average of 22.40, with best figures of 3/29.

The powerplay bowling is an area where both RCB and GT feel more level, because Bhuvneshwar Kumar could be lethal against GT’s top-order mainstays Gill and Buttler. Bhuvneshwar has dismissed Gill four times in 11 innings, conceding just 66 runs at a strike rate of 103.12, including seven fours and a six.

On the other hand, against Buttler, Bhuvneshwar has got the better of him in seven innings out of 18, conceding just 106 runs at an average of 15.14 and a strike rate of 110.41, including 13 fours and two sixes.

RCB vs GT Live Score, IPL 2026: Friday’s IPL clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium brings together two captains on opposite arcs. Rajat Patidar, who had only limited leadership experience on the domestic circuit before being handed the RCB captain’s job last season, has turned into the defending champions’ most explosive batter and a steady hand in a high-pressure campaign.

In contrast, Shubman Gill, arrives with a heavier leadership resume which includes the India in Tests and ODIs captaincy. But his season for Gujarat Titans has been far less fluent, especially in the Powerplay, even if his numbers still keep him among the league’s leading run-scorers. As a team, Gujarat are wobbling, having just recovered from a 99-run crushing against Mumbai Indians.

Patidar’s rise has been one of the season’s sharper storylines. Before being handed RCB’s captaincy, his leadership experience had largely been limited to Madhya Pradesh’s campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

He has backed that relative inexperience with fearless batting, dominating the middle overs in the last couple of seasons. Currently the team’s second highest run-scorer with 230 runs from six matches (strike rate 212.96), Patidar has been RCB’s power-hitting spark this season.

On the other hand, Gill’s season has been more uneven. The 26-year-old has had to carry a heavy scoring load this season while navigating patchy results around him. With a strike rate of 151.42, Gill sits third on the run-scorer’s chart with 265 runs from five matches.

With three half-centuries against his name, Gill as GT skipper has blown hot and cold, with the former champions undergoing an inconsistent run. This contrast between the skippers is at the centre of a contest in which both teams enter on the back of losses.

RCB have looked sharp in the Powerplay and at the death, with Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and Patidar giving the order a strong top-end and Tim David a sizzling finish. GT, meanwhile, had won three in a row before their last outing, but the batting order was exposed in their crushing loss to Mumbai, underlining its dependence on the top order.

While RCB’s batting has been their biggest weapon, their bowling still looks a touch thinner when forced to defend at home and the onus will once again fall on Bhuvneshwar Kumar and spinner Krunal Pandya. They will also hope that their Australian pace ace Josh Hazlewood bounces back after an off-day against Capitals.

Meanwhile, GT’s pace attack remains a major strength, with Prasidh Krishna their leading wicket-taker and support around him giving the unit bite, but their batting has tended to lean heavily on Gill, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudharsan. That makes the middle order a possible pressure point. On his home turf, Prasidh could probe the RCB batters.

History offers little to separate them. The head-to-head is level at 3-3, while GT won the corresponding fixture here in 2025 by eight wickets.

With RCB playing their last home league fixture in Bengaluru, the hosts will not just want points: they will want to sign off with a flourish.
