Gumla: Deputy commissioner Prerna Dixit has ensured intervention in areas like women and child care, tribal children’s nutrition and hygiene, land disputes and related cases, education, health and welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) through govt schemes and programmes since she took charge.After Dixit realised that land disputes and related matters were the main public grievances, she rolled out ‘Anchal Divas’ at circle offices of block headquarters every Saturday. Her presence helped solve a number of old land dispute cases.She has also built a feeding room-cum-crèche at the district collectorate for women visitors and staff.She also took steps to revamp the Sadar Hospital by deputing officials to inspect the facility weekly and guiding the hospital administration for better care of patients, food, medicines.
Dixit also arranged the treatment of two children suffering from eye ailments at a private hospital in Ranchi.For Class X and XII board examinations, she also introduced mock tests for students and ensuring completion of the syllabus.Dixit has also floated ‘Project Dwaar’ by travelling to PVTG habitations in remote areas to ensure they get benefits of welfare schemes. “Over 500 PVTG women are being trained in mushroom cultivation in remote Dumari block,” Dixit said.
She also launched a programme at all anganwadi centres, where anganwadi sevikas and women supervisors cut the children’s nails and combed their hair.“The district administration aims to ensure that residents should not face any problem and all govt scheme benefits reach them,” Dixit told TOI. “Since agriculture is a source of livelihood for most people, my next focus will be to raise the income of farmers. Besides, the administration is promoting the habit of eating drumstick leaves and finger millet laddoo among anaemic mothers and women,” she said.
