Rourkela: A 32-year-old jawan of Odisha Industrial Security Force was arrested on Friday in Sundargarh district for raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. The accused was identified as Ishak Kido.
He was working at Mahanadi Coalfields Limited in Hemgir.Police said the accused was in a relationship with the woman, now aged 25, for the past three years and allegedly established physical relationship after promising to marry her. Later, he refused to go ahead with it, following which the woman approached the police.Based on a complaint lodged on Thursday, police registered a case and initiated an investigation. Kido was detained, interrogated and later arrested on Friday night. Medical examinations of both the accused and the woman were conducted as part of the probe. “After arresting the accused, we are investigating the case further,” said Saudamini Nag, inspector-in-charge, Sadar police station.
