Jhansi: A 40-year-old man, who allegedly killed his 35-year-old live-in partner and her 3-year-old son recently, was arrested after an encounter late Thursday, police said.The encounter took place near Baraitha village when police tried to intercept bike-borne accused– Chaturbhuj Patel alias Deepak, a gig worker in Jhansi.However, Patel opened fire on the police team. In retaliation, police also fired, hitting him in the leg.Chaturbhuj told police that after the death of his first wife, he married Hemlata, but after some time duo separated due to a marital dispute. Then he got in touch with Nilu, who used to live in Gurugram. She was a single mother.Chaturbhuj brought her to the village a couple of weeks ago and started living in a rented accommodation.On Sunday, Nilu’s body was recovered near the main road outside the village.Chaturbhuj admitted that he had a fight with Nilu on Friday night, after which he killed her with an axe. During the incident, Nilu’s son woke up and was constantly crying, which irritated him, so he killed the boy as well.He kept both the bodies in the home for the entire day on Saturday. He planned to dispose of the bodies in the night. To conceal her identity, he mutilated Nilu’s face and dumped her body near the road outside the village.
He later burnt the boy’s body and concealed the remains inside a haystack in a nearby farm.SP Rural Arvind Kumar said: “Lehchura SO Sarita Mishra took help from the Mission Shakti complaint register to solve the case. She got a crucial lead in identifying the accused through it. The encounter was supervised by Mishra along with SWAT team. The accused has been sent to jail.”
