In a heart-wrenching incident, 10-year-old Roshni Kumari was tragically found murdered in Patna, just a day after disappearing. Her lifeless body, gruesomely wrapped in a blanket, displayed numerous deep lacerations. Authorities are actively pursuing leads, gathering evidence, and meticulously examining CCTV footage to track down the assailant.
Patna: A 10-year-old girl, who had been missing since Wednesday morning, was found murdered in a narrow lane under the Bypass police station area of Patna on Thursday. The body was recovered wrapped in a blanket around 500 metres from her residence.The deceased was identified as Roshni Kumari, daughter of Anu Yadav. According to police, a missing complaint was lodged on Wednesday night after the girl failed to return home. Acting on the complaint, police launched an intensive search operation using both technical tracking and ground-level inputs, and found her body.Roshni was last seen around Wednesday morning when she left her home in school uniform at the request of her grandmother to deliver milk to a neighbour, identified as Shiv Kumar Thakur.
When she did not return, family members searched the area before approaching the police.Her father said he was later informed by police about the recovery of her body. “We searched everywhere, and later the police told us about the body,” he said, struggling to come to terms with the loss.SDPO II (Patna City) Gaurav Kumar said police received information early Thursday that a girl’s body was lying in a narrow lane, wrapped in a blanket.
“A team immediately rushed to the spot. The Forensic Science Laboratory team and dog squad were pressed into service. Evidence has been collected, CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned, and statements of locals are being recorded,” he said.He added that injury marks were found on the body and a post-mortem is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death and circumstances leading to the murder. “We are probing all possible angles and will identify the accused based on scientific and technical evidence,” the SDPO said.Bypass police station SHO Ranjit Kumar confirmed that the body bore multiple deep wounds, suggesting the minor was brutally assaulted before being killed. An investigation is underway, he added.
