KOLKATA: After conceding for the first time in three matches, reigning champions Mohun Bagan SG blew away Mohammedan SC 5-1 on Saturday and went atop the Indian Super League table with a perfect record. Mohammedan SC, playing with an Indian squad because of a transfer ban, came into the contest as clear underdogs after losing their first two matches. However, they added a twist to the tale quicker than anticipated when Lalthankima met Lalngaihsaka’s corner-kick with a perfect header, gliding it past a fully-stretched Vishal Kaith in the 12th minute. However, the gulf in class and quality was so overwhelming that Sergio Lobera’s team took the setback as a wake-up call and soon came alive in the game with their usual might.
