Patna: JD(U) leader Nishant Kumar on Thursday said he would strengthen the party and work towards fulfilling the unfulfilled dream of his father Nitish Kumar.“I will strengthen the party, inform every village about the works carried out by my father and will fulfil his unfulfilled dream,” Nishant, who refused to join the new cabinet, told reporters at the party office on Thursday.
He also sought the blessings of the masses. He also extended his best wishes to CM Samrat Choudhary, who took oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday. “Samrat is my elder brother. My best wishes to him,” he said, adding he hoped the CM would guide the state to a new path of development. He added they would work under Samrat, who now leads the NDA govt.Nishant interacted with reporters as he reached the JD(U) office to hold a meeting with party legislators, MLCs, leaders and party workers from across the state.
The meeting followed two days after Nitish resigned as the CM to hand over charge to his ally.He said at the meeting, leaders shared their sentiments while recalling the works of Nitish and their experiences connected to his public service. “I urged all fellow companions to unite with dedication and work with commitment to make the organisation even stronger and more effective,” Nishant said in a social media post, adding they have resolved to take the organisation to new heights.
Nishant on Wednesday chose not to join the newly formed Bihar cabinet, despite strong speculation that he would be made a deputy CM after his recent entry into the JD(U).According to JD(U) sources, Nishant declined the offer as he wants to spend the next six months working among the people and strengthening the party organisation instead of taking up a govt post immediately. His decision came even as a section of senior JD(U) leaders had pushed for his inclusion in the cabinet.
