Alexa Rendell is now a familiar face in the paddock and has built a fan following of her own through her interactions with fans during race weekends. When asked about her favourite memory from her time in motorsport, Rendell recalled her first experience as a live presenter for Formula E.She told FormulaE.com in an interview, “I got to present the autograph session on Instagram in Monaco. The fact that I was finally being trusted with a mic, I loved every second of it. I do distinctly remember Jake Dennis looking up at me with a microphone. He’d never seen me as a presenter before, and he went, ‘Oh dear God, who gave you a mic?’ And I like to think that attitude has followed me throughout my career, ‘Oh goodness, who gave Alexa a mic to start asking all these questions?’”

Alexa Rendell shares what it takes to break into motorsport media

Alexa Rendell grew up watching Formula One and its commentary before making her breakthrough in Formula E as a presenter.

Sharing career advice for those looking to follow a similar path, Rendell said: “Just start doing what you want to do. If you want to work in social media, make your own TikToks like I did. I remember when I applied for my first job in motorsport, I had the second or third most-viewed video under the Formula E hashtag on TikTok, and that was the first line in my cover letter.

“If you want to work in communications or journalism, start writing – even if it’s only for your own blog. At least you’ll be able to show your enthusiasm and passion. Go and volunteer in grassroots motorsport, do whatever you can to prove that enthusiasm. It’s also really important to find out if this is definitely what you want to do – you don’t want to invest all your time and effort only to realise it’s not for you,” she added. It would be no surprise to see Rendell presenting at the upcoming Berlin double-header next month, scheduled from 1-3 May.Also read: Exclusive interview: Edoardo Mortara shines for Mahindra Racing this season, says “important to keep your feet on the ground”
