Patna DM launches enumeration phase of Census 2027

Patna’s Census 2027 self-enumeration phase has begun, with citizens able to submit data online until May 1, 2026. The house listing and housing census follows in May 2026. Extensive training for enumerators is underway, utilizing a mobile app for digital data collection. Over 14,000 personnel are involved in this crucial exercise for policy formulation.

Patna: Principal census officer-cum-district magistrate of Patna, Thiyagarajan S M, on Friday inaugurated the self-enumeration phase of the Census of India 2027 by recording his personal data.The Census process involves the deputy development commissioner, district public relations officer, district planning officer and district statistical officer. Citizens can access the self-enumeration portal till May 1, 2026. The house listing and housing census phase will be conducted from May 2 to May 31. Personnel at the collectorate are currently using the web portal to submit their information.The district administration has organised training sessions for enumerators and supervisors across blocks and urban bodies.

These sessions cover door-to-door data collection, form filling and data entry using digital devices. Officials have been directed to maintain confidentiality and adhere to guidelines issued by the office of the registrar general and census commissioner under the ministry of home affairs.Data collected during this exercise will be used for govt policy formulation and development planning. The census will utilise a mobile application for digital data collection on smartphones.

The district has deployed 46 in charge census officers, 12,071 enumerators, 2,031 supervisors and 222 field trainers. The DM is overseeing 40 offiials covering 23 blocks, 11 municipal councils, five nagar panchayats and the Danapur Cantonment Board. Patna municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena is managing six urban zone charges covering 75 wards.A 13-member district-level census coordination committee and a dedicated census cell are monitoring the exercise to ensure timely completion.
