In a shocking turn of events, Patna police have arrested three suspects, including the girlfriend of the victim, Mahadev Shah, in relation to his gruesome murder. Authorities have uncovered a disturbing web of blackmail and threats linked to explicit material that seemed to drive this violent act.
Patna: After a year-long investigation, Patna police cracked the murder of a young man whose body was found on March 18, 2025, in Parsa Bazar police station area. The victim, later identified as Mahadev Shah from Jehanabad district, was brutally killed by slitting his throat, with visible sharp-weapon injuries on the body.Acting on Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis and interrogation, the police arrested three accused—Pushpa Devi (the deceased’s girlfriend), her brother-in-law Alok Kumar, and autorickshaw driver Sunny Kumar. One more suspect is still absconding.Talking to reporters on Sunday, city SP (East), Parichay Kumar, said during interrogation, Alok confessed that Pushpa married Abhimanyu Paswan in 2022 but continued her relationship with the victim.
“Even after the marriage, Mahadev allegedly blackmailed Pushpa by sending and threatening to leak her nude photos and videos, pressuring her to maintain physical relations. This caused immense distress to the family.“On March 17, 2025, Pushpa reportedly called Mahadev to meet him. Alok, along with his friend Sunny, picked him up in an autorickshaw from the village, took him to a secluded spot, and murdered him. Alok, who ran a private medical clinic in his village, shut it down after the crime and shifted to Patna to prepare for the sub-inspector examination. Police arrested Alok from a hostel in Mahendru. During the operation, he attempted to flee by jumping from the building and fractured his leg,” the SP said.From the accused’s possession, officers recovered three cellphones, including the deceased’s damaged phone, which is expected to provide further evidence.
