Student groups clash during Hansraj College annual fest

New Delhi: Clashes broke out between two groups of students at Hansraj College, Delhi University, during the college’s annual fest on Thursday, with videos circulating online showing a crowd scuffling near the campus entrance and hurling objects, including tables and bricks.

Police personnel were present at the spot.The incident occurred during Confluence 2026 while singer Vilen was performing. Students claimed the show was cut short following the commotion.The college had been witnessing protests in the days leading up to the fest, with the students’ union alleging that permission to use the playground for organising the event had been denied by the administration.Meanwhile, principal Rama said no formal complaint regarding any scuffle had been received. “There were adequate police arrangements and the programme ended by 5 pm. No videos of any scuffle have been brought to my notice,” she said.University proctor Manoj Kumar Singh said no injuries were reported.
