Singer-lyricist and actor Swanand Kirkire describes acting as deeply rewarding, but says working in ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’, backed by filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, holds a special place for him. The film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari, resonates with his belief that family-oriented cinema is more relevant than ever today.Reflecting on the essence of such storytelling, Kirkire emphasised the emotional power of watching films together. “There is something special about films that families can watch together, where different generations sit in the same room, laugh at the same moments, and feel the same emotions. That shared experience is becoming increasingly rare, but it’s important,” he shared with Mid-Day, underlining the need for togetherness in cinema-going habits.
Sooraj Barjatya’s earlier works
Much like Sooraj Barjatya’s earlier works, ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’ is believed to revolve around relationships, traditions, and the emotional strength of family ties. Kirkire shared that such films go beyond entertainment and “become a part of family memories”. He added, “I think in today’s individualistic world, there’s a strong need to bring back that culture of collective viewing, where cinema becomes a bridge between generations.
”For Kirkire, being part of ‘Yeh Prem Mol Liya’ is more than just another acting project, it’s an emotionally fulfilling journey. “As an actor, being part of such a film is fulfilling. It’s about creating moments that families can cherish together. For me, this film is a reminder of the kind of cinema that unites us,” he concluded.
