Three Children Drown in Separate Incidents in Godda District

Dumka: Three children, including two siblings, allegedly drowned in separate incidents in Godda district on MondaySources said brothers Satyam Pandit, 12, and Vishal Pandit, 10, drowned in a pond in Chandni Chowk Ghatbanka locality on Monday afternoon.

Police said the brothers returned home from school and stepped out to play in the afternoon.

When they did not return till evening, their family members began a search. Locals informed the family that the children were last seen playing near a pond. Their bodies were later fished out. Family members and residents rushed them to Sadar Hospital, where they were declared brought dead.In another incident, body of a 10-year-old girl, identified as Monika Hembram, who was missing since Sunday, was recovered from the Dholiya river in Meharma on Monday, police said.“Bodies of the two siblings and the girl were sent for post-mortem examination to Sadar Hospital on Tuesday,” Godda DSP, J P N Chaudhary said. Unnatural death cases were registered with Muffassil police station and Meharma police stations, respectively, police said.
