New Delhi: Two factory fires were reported in northwest Delhi on Sunday.In the first incident, a blaze broke out at a plastic factory located in Block I of Narela Industrial Area. According to Delhi Fire Services, a call regarding the fire was received at around 9.15am, following which 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
The fire had started on the third floor of the factory and quickly spread due to the presence of highly flammable plastic material. Thick smoke billowed from the building as flames engulfed a significant portion of the unit. Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before bringing it under control. Large quantities of plastic are reported to have melted in the fire. No casualties were reported in the incident.In a separate incident, a major fire broke out at a paper factory in Khera Kalan Industrial Area. The blaze spread rapidly within minutes, engulfing the factory in dense plumes of smoke and triggering panic among residents. At the time of the incident, work was underway inside the unit, but all workers were evacuated safely, ensuring that no lives were lost.Officials said the fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, which quickly escalated due to the presence of combustible materials. More than five fire tenders were deployed to the scene, and firefighters worked intensively to control the flames. As a precautionary measure, the power supply in the surrounding area was temporarily suspended.The fire has now been largely brought under control, and cooling operations are underway. Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of both incidents.
