A life-sized impersonator of US President Donald Trump has been placed inside a mock prison cell atop a billboard in Tehran as part of a display criticising Washington over a deadly strike on an Iranian wedding.

Located above Tajrish Square, one of the Iranian capital’s busiest transport hubs, the installation features an actor wearing a Trump mask and wig. Inside the cage, which is fitted with a bed, toilet and sink, the impersonator can be seen rattling the bars and taking a nap.

The spectacle has attracted crowds, with passersby stopping to record the performance on their phones.

An electronic billboard behind the cage shows images linked to a US strike that hit a wedding in the southern Iranian town of Kuhestak last month. Crime-scene visuals are also displayed as part of the installation’s message against the US president.

Iranian state media reported that Tehran’s Beautification Organization, which operates under the city’s municipality, unveiled the display on Tuesday. The installation appears to be part of a 15-day campaign centred on the wedding strike.

The display comes as tensions between Iran and the United States remain high following US and Israeli attacks on Iran in February.

Tehran has increasingly turned to public billboards to convey political messages targeting Washington. A previous installation showed Trump lying inside a coffin covered in graffiti. Iranian authorities and supporters have also shared memes and videos online mocking Trump and his administration during the conflict.

The strike on the wedding has emerged as a central focus of the latest campaign. US Central Command said it was aware of Iranian reports about the incident and maintained that American forces do not target civilians.
