Agra: A court here has sentenced three men to life imprisonment for shooting dead a 20-year-old man during a clash after his cousin drove his SUV over an irrigation pipe costing Rs 100 at Gadhi Maharaj village of Khandauli in Agra district in Jan 2020.The court of additional district and sessions judge Nitin Kumar Thakur on Monday also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each on convicts Praveen Parmar (30), his father Rakesh Singh (55) and Luvkush Singh (35). Failure to pay would invite an additional penalty of Rs 10,000 each.ADGC Satyaprakash Dkakad on Tuesday said that the murder dates to Jan 12, 2020, when Ajay Kumar, his cousins Devki Nandan Rathore and Amit 25 were going to Hathras’s Sadabad in an SUV for the vehicle’s routine service.As the vehicle ran over a water supply pipe, costing Rs 100, the hosh-pipe cracked. Soon Rakesh, Lavkush and Praveen arrived and started hurling abuses at the vehicle occupants. When Amit alighted from the vehicle to pacify the situation, Rakesh told Luvkush to catch hold of him and asked Praveen to shoot. A bullet hit Amit on the chest, and he died at Agra’s SN Medical College later.Rathore filed an FIR at Khandauli police station under section 302 (murder) and sections of the Arms Act. Praveen was arrested the same day, and the .315 bore firearm and a spent cartridge was recovered from his possession. Luvkush and Rakesh were arrested later in Jan and Feb 2020, respectively.
