Driver killed after truck falls into gorge in Hazaribag

Hazaribag: A 40-year-old truck driver was killed after his vehicle fell into a 50 feet-deep gorge while negotiating a turn on NH-2 in the early hours of Monday. The incident took place at Danua Bhanua Ghat section of NH-2 under Chouparan police station limits of the district.

The truck was carrying iron rods from Kolkata to Rajasthan. “The truck was being driven by Rahul Thakur, a resident of Rajasthan. Thakur was rescued from the wreckage of the truck and admitted to Chouparan community health centre, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival,” Saroj Choudhury, the officer-in-charge of Chouparan police station, said.The helper of the truck, Kishan Ram Meena (30), sustained injuries and admitted to Chouparan Block Hospital. The truck, however, could not be taken out from the gorge till last reports came in. TNN
