Meerut: Three cars parked outside a marriage hall in Bulandshahr’s Khurja Dehat police station area were gutted after sparks from fireworks during a walima or reception triggered a blaze around 10pm on Sunday.
Guests attending the function had parked their vehicles along the roadside outside the venue.Chief fire officer Pramod Kumar said a spark from the fireworks landed on or near the parked vehicles. “The presence of dry grass or other inflammable material is believed to have accelerated the spread of the fire, which quickly engulfed three cars one after another,” he said. The blaze was brought under control after nearly an hour of firefighting.“No casualties were reported, and none of the vehicles had occupants at the time of the incident,” circle officer Shobhit Kumar said.
