VIJAYAWADA: At least 10 lives in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district in the early hours of Thursday, after a private travel bus collided head-on with a gravel-laden lorry near Rayavaram in Markapuram mandal.According to preliminary reports, the impact of the collision triggered a massive fire, engulfing both vehicles within minutes. Ten passengers were reportedly burnt alive in the blaze, while around 20 others sustained serious injuries. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, where several are said to be in critical condition.Police and fire department personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information and launched rescue operations.
Firefighters battled the flames and managed to bring the situation under control after a strenuous effort.Officials said the bus was travelling from Jagtial in Telangana to Podili in Prakasam district when the accident occurred.The exact cause of the mishap is yet to be determined, and a detailed investigation is underway.
